During the years 1943-1945, the only time in the history of Poland,  on-demand abortion was available to Polish women.   It’s worth noting that the same law did not apply in Germany.  Any German woman who aborted her baby was sentenced to death.  The only exception to this law was endangerment to the mother’s life- as portal Historykon.com points out.

Hitler’s abortion policies in Eastern Europe, including Poland, had its own purpose.   That purpose was to destroy what he deemed a “lower class” which included Slovakians and Poles.

Hitler’s own words confirmed this approach on July 22, 1942 when he said:  “Given the number of large families among the local population, large number of abortions are to our advantage”.

Abortion in Poland was strictly illegal until 1932.  After 1932 and until Poland was occupied, it was allowed only with few exceptions.
